WASHINGTON, Oct 1 — A magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit Indonesia’s Sumatra island this morning, the US Geological Survey reported, the second large quake to rattle the area in 24 hours.
The quake struck at 9:31am on land, 155km northwest of Bengkulu.
It was quite shallow at a depth of 25km.
